Newman Energy Machine: Misunderstood and tragic

60lbs of trifiler #18 wire.

I don't want to buy more #18 wire because I plan to use what is on the this Newman coil for another project.

I was mistaken about having 100lbs of #18 wire, only 60.

I'll get 100lbs of smaller gauge wire and replace the #18. (5-filer)

I'm planning the bigger motor now and I'll reuse the smaller gauge wire for that coil.

With fresh batteries I'm running @ about 325rpm.

Thanks for your wishes!! yes i have recovered form from quite a long viral sickness!! I have mailed you regarding the Capacitors..looks like you just have to use a combination of a series and Parallel Capacitors of the value of what you already have, also you may have to add more Mass (Coils turns) for the Batteries Voltage you are using (108V) to cope up the Impedance problem..that will drian the batteries alot slower than it is doing now..

Put the 3 strand windings in series and the motor runs better at 50% less amp draw, down to 100ma regardless of the voltage.

Increased torque.

PS - I would only need 6 pairs for the conference build sheet version.
From past experience I believe that one would need 5/8" space between mags on the shaft (lengthwise).

My small newman runs comfortably @1000rpm, 650v, 80-120mA, no load.
This is from a pwr supply rather than small batts.
Had to stabilize the brass strip brushes at the tops.
Looking to run load with belt or direct.
Have 100lbs of 28gauge wire coming from baewire ebay. He's in Florida.
Best prices.
Will replace the 18gauge with the #28 and see if I can get the batts to stay charged.

On 2nd thought,
not enough wire to do significant work with the Newman effect.
Mainly a load does not stress the commutator under this effect.
MUCH MORE WIRE!

Hi brod,
The 'Newman effect' will not show up unless you have the right geometry of the coils configured..next is the commutator should 'break' and at the same time 'take' the kick backs from the coils into the source batteries in series..
it is a bad idea to use power supply as the source.. it will get damaged for sure because of the kick backs, but Batteries just need them if properly subjected!!

I did a lot with these motors and same type of Generator back in '7 or so.
I see now that they are Newman ripoffs and I never had enough wire.
I cannot speak highly of the gentleman that sells the plans.

My small Newman motor behaves alot like the fuelless motors did. I'm convinced that when the larger one is done with 200lbs of wire we will have desirable results.
I'm continuing to make commutators and I sent my shaft for the large one to a machinist because it is too long for my equipment. I can do about 35" but this one is 45" ttl L.

I don't think like an engineer so it seems to me that enough wire to lower the amp draw to 50mA or less and significant power is the objective.
I hear you regarding batteries but I don't want to keep using them up because they won't charge with the present amount of wire.

Hi Bro d,
First of all, a loud aploud for your efforts and an impressive set up of the Motor video in the drop box. I salute your wisdom and yes you NEED NOT have to be a trained Engineer to tinker with these things.. Engineering is built-in to a natural tinkerer... rest is all Synchronicity!!
Use Non-Polarized(MPP/Metalized polyproplyne/Polycarbonate) 'Self-healing'(SH) Capacitors (like the Oil filled High-Voltage Capacitor used in microwave oven ect.)
The inclussion of a Capacitor parallel to the coil will reduce the sparking at the commutator. and this will provide a gain in the torque in the motor as well..

Indeed!! the Magnet orientation is applicable to the SG machine as well...the crux of the interaction between a Magnet and an 'unidirectional' coil is to make the 'Inside'(towards the Bloch wall) and 'Outside'( towards the poles) flipp their places because that makes each palces accessable appropriately ...i have mentioned it in the Thread John Bedini's Magnetic Field Model just my 2 cents for the understanding... great video i must say..and good explanation by Ross!!

Hi,

The Newman Motor is a combination of both the Speed and the Torque. You can scale it any level to your appalication. It can be a toy scale or a building scale. you name the application it caters it.
