    Thanks Gary. That makes sense. So its pretty much like impedance then eh?

    G-Field will looking like this...also, for note, this is not just a 3d model, its the actual parts I will be 3d printing. Anything black is printed, the rest is wood or metal

      Hi Joe,

      Looks good!

      One thing to keep in mind is designing in a way to vary the air gap between the magnets and the coil cores. The gap will cause drag if it's too small. Some experimentation is required to get the gap adjusted to the correct distance for best overall performance.

        Thanks! Plan is to develop a coil shorting circuit with opto sensing so I can control when the coil shorts and for how long. Lots of work to go. Should i still design the adjustablity in or do you think the coil shorting be enough?

          Hi Joe,

          I think gap adjustablity would be beneficial whether you use coil shorting or not. It's fairly easy to do with set screws in the rotating bars and spacers between them and the bearings.
