Was watching this electric toothbrush teardown http://www.eevblog.com/2012/05/30/ee...rush-teardown/

In the video he examines the charging waveforms....and it turns out Braun is using pulse charging and there is ringing in the waveforms....

Just thought you guys might find this interesting. Also two coils are used in inverse to each other with single diodes to create a "full wave"
rectified DC output...
