Matching transistors for the SSG

Many of us have Hfe measurements on our multimeters for transistors.
Is it mearly enough to match these values? Is there a tolerance that is acceptable?
Or is there need to build a circuit that matches transistors at different voltage and current levels?

your hfe tester is a great start. eventually you may want to get a curve tracer attachment for your scope.
