  • Cap dump with gas discharge tube

    Hi to all,
First i have to say I don't know much about electronics,so no wondering if this is complete nonsense what i am asking.
Is it possible to connect a capacitor(photoflash) and a gas discharge tube after the FWBR,in series in the negative or positive wire to the secondary battery.Or is this only be possible with the 555 timer like in the circuits JB has made? When the cap is full, say 400V the GDT has to have a rating of 400V also and it let this potential into the battery.
I hope thats more then a suggestion.Would make things easier.
    Thanks for the help.

    forelle,

yes, a few people have done this but in my opinion 400v is too high to be discharging the cap at. Be very careful, hitting a battery with a 400v spike may cause it to explode.

a common method, as detailed in the Free Energy Generation book is to use a neon bulb rated at 90v to switch an SCR which in turn discharges a capacitor to the charge battery.

There are also lower voltage GDT's, I have a couple that conduct at 90V. Still too high for my liking but may work better than your high 400V.
