  • I've been testing my SG with various magnet combinations to see how spacing effects performance.

12V primary. Same trigger resistance. 26" wheel.

    6 magnets, 77hz, 210V peaks, .7A primary per coil.
    18 magnets, 222hz, 212V peaks, 2.4A primary per coil.
    36 magnets, 299hz, 216V peaks, 3.1A primary per coil.

I thought that the tight magnet spacings would effect the peak V but this hasn't been the case.
It does seem to have an effect to the top speed of the wheel however.

    The 36 magnet wheel running 299hz was pushing a 12V x 100ah battery to 13.2 fairly quickly.

      Hey John,

Looks like things are getting very interesting in this experimentation - love the set-up!

Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing...

And if so, you should make the 2 strand coils hooked up as series connected strands as well as connecting the individual coils in series... and then you need to put that output into a cap pulser, and or do the Konehead Ring the Ring trick to boost the genny energy collection into the cap pulser.......
          Hi RS,
Could please elaborate on the 'konehead ring trick' I guess it has something to do with the coil shorting methods..
          Thank you in advance.
