    I was wanting to know more about the interaction between the coil and the ferrite magnets.

    Is there a cohersive (flux) reinforcement that occurs as the magnet passes the coil? Ie the coil increases the flux flowing through the magnet which furthermore reinforces the flux in the coil leading to a larger field collapse as the power is switched off by the transistor?
    Why would saturation of the magnet and coil be bad?
    Or is the magnet simply a trigger system?
    What makes the resultant energy scalar? Can someone define in laymans terms what scalar energy is?
    If one was to use a larger mass for the wheel. For instance solid aluminium would the magnets need to be increased in strength in order to increase the rotational force required to turn the wheel? Looking at Johns prototypes this appears to be the case?

    James, the magnet on the rotor is just a normal magnet and it doesn't change when interacting with the coil. What does occur however is in between the magnets on the rotor a scalar south field is produced. Simply put, this occurs when two similar magnetic poles are in close proximity of each other.

    The magnet is simply a simple triggering mechanism, no voodoo here. It is there just to induce enough voltage and current in the trigger winding to bias the transistor to switch on. Of course it also is the cause of rotation when the transistor fires and the coil core pushes the magnet away so the next magnet can come along and repeat the process.

    The mass In the wheel stores kinetic energy to keep the wheel turning enough until the next magnet is pushed away from the coil. Ideally the mass should weighted so the bulk of it is on the perimeter of the wheel. A solid aluminum wheel is OK, but the mass is spread more evenly across the entire rotor. This means the machine is going to use a lot more energy trying to get that huge mass up to the speed the machine wants to run at. This is why we recommend a bike wheel for a rotor as the magnets are making up most of the mass and that mass is on the perimeter.
