    Please forgive me if this question is totally ignorant, haha.

    So if you put a load on the wheel...such as a fan...could the fan blow on a small windmill that generates enough current to power the monopole? I'm sure it would generate enough...but not sure there needs to be an actual battery on the primary side to work correctly....?

    There is not enough mechanical energy on the shaft of monopole motors to change into electrical energy to drive the wheel. I've heard it said that you only have about 20% of the input energy at the shaft when the wheel is operating. That energy can be effectively used for other things especially if the wheel is several feet in diameter.

    Build a small wheel first and experiment.
