  • Capacitor Question

I am a newbie, please be patient with me. I am trying to learn as much and fast as I can.

I have a capacitor that measures 1 3/8 in diamitor and 1 1/4 tall and the side says Samxon 330uF 400V.

Would this be a good candidate for a SG?

for what purpose? a cap dump? it is too small for a cap dump. minimum cap for that purpose is 15000UF and 50 volts.... voltage to hi capacity too low.

Yes, for a cap dump. Thank you Tom.

Hi Tom C and ugotdave I have been using a 10 uf cap and a neon trigger. But I must have missed something somewhere- 15000uf?! Or is there some other circuit you guys are talking about? Please let me know. Thanks

you missed something..... you want the cap to dump 2x battery voltage, a neon triggers at 90 to 120. there is almost zero potential in a 10uf cap. the small comparator we make is 15000 uf and 50 volt. you need an SCR cap dump or the comparator cap dump. search the forum there are several circuits posted here.
