  • Can I use higher wattage resistor and potentiometer for SSG?

I have a 100 ohm, '1' Watt resistor and a 1k ohm '2' Watt potentiometer, for my first SSG project. is the higher wattage going to be an issue?

"resistors, 100 ohm 1/2 watt and 1k ohm potentiometer same wattage"

Thank you in advance for any insight.

    Ahmad.

    No that will be fine.

John, does that also apply to a 100w 1k rheostat?
      Thanks

James, yes it will be find, if you have one.. anyway, a basic SSG doesnt need a very top notch rheostat, since it draw relatively low current 80-120Ma..so a simple 1k pot will be just fine..

PS: start tuning from the higher resistance to lowest, until you find the lowest resistance with higher RPM
