I meant that I do not have a osciloscope to measure , actually see , the frequency and voltage of the spike with different setups (caps, pots or resistors).
@min2only
please look here for charging data

Also I would not discharge the batteries down to 10.50 volts...you may damage them. 12volts would be safer. Maybe someone else would say differently?
Yes I know. But the fact is I have done this...
Hi guys,
so this is my SolidState SG
5530
5531
5532
5533
It's a standard SG circuit turned no-wheel i.e. solid-state using cap-pot-diode (CPD).

Hi Patrick,
It's halfway finished. I still need to solder the wires and stuff. Just set it up to test the circuit.
I had originally tried a 1M and 500K pot and tried those small yellow .33uF...

Are we reinventing the wheel or are we looking at something else ?
I think this one is the schematic....
RS_ has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space.

thank you much for the pic. I redraw the SNAGs-002 diagram back...
Hi everyone,
currently sourcing the parts for the 12V comparator circuit which RS_ posted (KRL RS revB, 08/12/14). I have a couple of questions guys. I have no formal electro background , just a...
Charged with my 8filar monopole radiant at lowest amp draw (~380mA) 140RPM. The battery came out off my fathers car unusable. I decide to give the battery a deep dive after a couple of days on the...
Lovely Teodor,
thanks for the valuable info. Will try that next time. Also planning solid state with thicker-longer wire. I use MJL21194 only. I like your coil ,pretty similar with mine. The...
Hmm, I have 7 stranded single coil. I can't imagine charging up to 15.50V 65Ah battery within 12hours. I charge either with 1A or ~750mA(bestRPM). As you said, a thicker 18-14AWG coil could help...
- I use only open batteries->(top plastic cover, six rubber plugs), I can fill them with distilled water if needed and off-gasing is better (pressure build up is lower). AFAIK with sealed batts, once...
Hi pontozero36,
- my two bicycle wheel SGs are running on ball-bearings with white-lithium based grease in them. They're running 24/7 since summer. For start ball-bearings should be ok. Be sure to...
Hi again,
I can't really say that I 100% finished my second SSG build but here it is. I think I have timing problems there, the neons doesn't light up at the same time. I would appreciate any...
Fantastic , very clean looking , professional work. I will do this in the future for sure ! But first I have to learn all the tips and tricks (tunning, cap dumps) before going into a x-coiler.

Another question.
Can I charge two 12V power tool (or LABs) batteries in series as 24V on the 7 or 8 setting on the 1AU ?
EDIT: With identical Ah rating and chemistry , of course.
Hi, I already have the 1AU and using it everyday. Everything is working fine. I had to put the charger into the basement because of quiet loud buzz/noise/rattle while charging. It's kinda hard to be...

I use ferrite magnets 50 x 25 x 14 mm Suggested size is 50 x 25 x 12 mm bigger/thickeer the magnet => stronger the m-field ... Just play with the distance between the passing magnet and the...
When I started to build the whole frame with my grandfather , he was the big boss saying "why from wood?". We argued a lot. But then he pushed so much that I let him to do it from steel. I knew that...
I can find 15,000uF electrolytic capacitors but rated only 16V ,25V and 35Volts. Would it be worth to try them ? I can't find 80V anywhere. From companies available for me.

Almost done !!!! It's working nicely. I will upload photos of "making of" on my G+ account once it's done.
:)
Hi, I will be soon assembling my first SSG as close as possible to the beginners book. I will leave here my setup for others and I also have some questions. For people building in POLAND,CZECH...
